Terms of Service

1. About GratisFare

GratisFare LLC (“GratisFare,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Kansas City–based rideshare subscription company. Our service provides unlimited zero-fare rides within the Kansas City metro area to active subscribers. The service is scheduled to launch in August 2026, pending regulatory approval and operational readiness.

By joining as a founding member, creating an account, or using any GratisFare service, you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use our services.

2. Founding Membership

GratisFare is currently in a pre-launch phase. We are collecting a refundable founding membership fee of $35 USD per person. By purchasing a founding membership, you agree to the following:

  • Your $35 is charged immediately upon checkout.
  • You will not be charged your monthly subscription rate until the service launches.
  • Your monthly subscription rate is locked at the rate displayed at the time of your purchase and will not increase as long as your membership remains active.
  • Your $35 is applied toward your first month's subscription upon launch.
  • You may request a full refund within 6 months of purchase if you choose not to activate your membership.
  • If GratisFare does not launch service by December 31, 2027, you are entitled to a full refund of your $35.
  • Your membership does not guarantee service in any specific neighborhood, route, or time window.

3. Subscription Terms

Upon service launch, your founding member subscription will begin. Subscriptions are billed monthly.

  • Your monthly rate is locked for the life of your active membership.
  • Subscriptions automatically renew each month unless cancelled.
  • You may cancel at any time before the next billing cycle. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period — no partial refunds are issued.
  • If you cancel and later wish to resubscribe, you will be subject to the then-current subscription rate, which may be higher than your original locked rate.
  • GratisFare reserves the right to terminate a subscription for violation of these Terms, abuse of service, or fraudulent activity.

4. Ride Service Terms

When the GratisFare service is active, the following terms govern your use of rides:

  • Rides are available within the GratisFare service area, which may change over time.
  • You must be 21 years of age or older to use GratisFare.
  • Zero-fare rides are for subscribers only. Guests may not use your membership.
  • GratisFare reserves the right to limit ride frequency or distance to prevent abuse.
  • You are responsible for your conduct during rides. Damage to vehicles or harassment of drivers may result in suspension or termination of your membership without refund.
  • GratisFare is not a common carrier and does not guarantee ride availability at any given time.
  • Ride availability may be limited by driver availability, weather, surge conditions, or other factors outside GratisFare's control.

5. Corporate Enrollment

GratisFare offers corporate enrollment programs under which an employer or organization (“Corporate Sponsor”) pays for or subsidizes memberships for its employees or members.

  • Corporate enrollments are governed by a separate Corporate Agreement between GratisFare and the Corporate Sponsor.
  • Corporate members receive a private enrollment URL. This URL is confidential and may not be shared outside the organization.
  • If a corporate membership is terminated by the Corporate Sponsor, GratisFare will provide affected members with 30 days' notice and the option to continue at the then-current individual rate.
  • GratisFare is not responsible for any disputes between Corporate Sponsors and their employees regarding membership benefits.

6. Referral Program

GratisFare may offer referral credits to members who refer new subscribers. Referral credits are applied as discounts to monthly subscription fees and have no cash value. GratisFare reserves the right to modify or discontinue the referral program at any time with 30 days' notice to active participants.

7. Privacy and Data

We collect your name, email address, and payment information to process your membership. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Ride data may be used in aggregate and anonymized form for operational and analytical purposes. Your email address may be used to send service updates, milestone announcements, and membership-related communications. You may opt out of non-essential communications at any time.

Payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. GratisFare does not store your full payment card details. Stripe's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment information.

8. Limitation of Liability

GratisFare's total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of our services shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to GratisFare in the 12 months preceding the claim.

GratisFare is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of income or business opportunities, arising from your use or inability to use our service.

Because GratisFare is in pre-launch, we make no representations that the service will launch on any particular date or that regulatory approvals will be obtained. Our liability in the event of non-launch is limited to refund of your $35 as described in Section 2.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Jackson County, Missouri.

10. Changes to These Terms

GratisFare may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of our services after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
